A choice, not a ranking

Turkey Run or Shades?

Both sit along the Sugar Creek landscape, but choose between them by the route and camping experience you want. Do not assume Shades is simply a quieter version of Turkey Run.

Which fits your day?

Choose Turkey Run when its described ravine routes fit your group and you want to evaluate the ladder sections deliberately. Choose Shades when its own ravines, preserve options or specific camping category are the draw. Neither park’s reputation replaces reading its current map.

The check that can change the answer

Turkey Run warns about impassable streambed sections in high water; Shades listed Trails 7 and 8 closed at review. Check the current notice for the route you actually choose.
